en pressant
my second favourite song from wicked. the top favourite being 'for good'. well, i like 'defying gravity' and 'dancing through life' also, but these are so 'popular' (haha) with other people i'm sure everyone already knows what they sound like anyway :P oh, and 'i'm not that girl' too, but dengqing and xiaowei have been quoting from it already (and they quoted the same line some more. this is called advocation telepathy).
omg hahaha to think wicked is coming to the little red dot! i am excited~~~
opening night with ad-vocation. best combination i could ever ask for ♥
i think we're all excited about it. to the point that last week xiaowei dreamt about advocation outing, then a few days later tree dreamt of advocation outing, and then last night i dreamt of advocation outing :D (yes, more advocation telepathy)
'i couldn't be happier...because happy is what happens when all your dreams come true' (:

arioso
so a musical chemistry in the woods was yesterday. it was quite fun actually, what with flying scores that landed in the pond in the midst of harry potter (which the sampan guy helped us to retrieve), meeting up with reception food gang again and walking all the way from botanic gardens to cluny court in heels, playing around with the lanxess fan (and the improvised fans hehe), and the random, er, gossip session we held in the cafe when plenty of YO people were passing by. haha.
well, it was our first outdoor concert, and it was admittedly rather hot and stuffy, but it rained in the afternoon, so it wasn't so bad after all. celesta solo was...so-so. no major mess-ups at least. and i killed most of my fingers during the harry potter glisses. to the point that i could barely hold a pen today :P but it was quite satisfying anyhow. even though it was painful. oh dear, i sound rather masochistic. haha.
went out for dinner with miffie, val, sidney and jed after that. after walking for about 15 mins trying to get out of botanic gardens, we wound up at ccab, and eventually had dinner at relish. haha. quite a lot of funny little things happened, but i guess i won't blog about the details. :P
ooh and i got a new wallpaper for my phone. ie. the YO harp♥ (:

delicatamente
ouch. ouch. ouch. it really serves me right for pulling out all the hard skin that was being so irritating last wednesday. grrrr. i should've just left it alone. so much for thinking everything would heal before saturday T.T and omg i can't seem to find a good spot to poke to let all the water out. this is terrible. i think i constantly subject my fingers to a great deal of mutilation.
well...if everything fails tomorrow, there is always my old bopian for glissing. which i used today. hahaha.
celebrating celeste's birthday today was fun (: only went for lunch but we still did an awful lot of funny stuff. like tricking yuanteng that celeste smsed her order. haha. happy birthday isosceleste♥
on a side note, i am still rather wicked-obsessed. haha. the wizard and i, and what is this feeling, and dancing through life, are all awesomely catchy and fun :D and those like defying gravity and for good are always nice classic songs. haha. i was humming my way through my wicked playlist during econs and physics lectures on friday. and actually, i was doing it in physics prac on wednesday too. i think cat heard me, and she was sitting about halfway across the classroom. oops. :P
the finale always gives me shivers at the part where glinda comes in and elphaba joins her. haha.

glissando...
so CTs ended today, and we went out (as usual). had lunch at j8, then moved on to orchard, our familiar haunt. haha. well, it was awesome catching up with friends, and talking rubbish and laughing about random things that most people probably wouldn't have found funny. i suppose we made quite a spectacle of ourselves this morning in the canteen, screaming with laughter at nothing in particular. ah well. it's nothing new, anyhow. :P
then there was YO at night. i formed a blister during the first half of rehearsal. and then i burst it on a particularly violent gliss in the second half. and water from the blister sprayed everywhere. ugh. so darrell gave me a strange look cos he wondered why i stopped so suddenly. and after that, i had to gliss with my third and fourth fingers instead, with the result that both those fingers now have a watery blister on them. i bet they will both burst on saturday. hooray.
now that CTs are over, it's time to get some other things done! like trying out random wicked songs on the piano haha :P somehow i think it's easier to play by ear on the piano. though the harp always sounds better to me (:
and yes, i am still rather obsessed over wicked. i think it's awesome. and it's all because of wicked (and elphaba) that i don't dislike green as much as i used to HAHAHA. this website has the funny quotes from the musical, they're really quite amusing :D
haha. well, i prefer it to les mis (maybe not phantom though, i guess) because the storyline is happier. the songs have a more disney/broadway-ish quality to it, but i don't mind (: understandable anyway. the composer collaborated with alan menken (yeah him again hahaha :P) for pocahontas and enchanted, so no wonder the wicked songs have a similarish style. compared to the les mis songs which have a...more classical style? i don't quite know how to describe it. but then again, i am fine with both styles so it doesn't matter. anyhow, i think i'd like to watch wicked again. maybe online, if i can find it. i like it :D :D (okay that is pretty much obvious already :P)
and there is a happy ending :D haha okay phantom and les mis have *sort of* happy endings, but not quite in the same way; there were sad bits for a lot of people in the process too :/ yes, i am a huge fan of happy endings. hehe. and wicked had a lot of funny cute bits too which i liked (: it's more like disney, i suppose. which is nice in a different way from the classics like phantom. the music used quite a bit of harp too but they cheated and used a keyboard for the one i watched D< oh wells.
i am becoming a huge musical addict. haha.

fröhlich
psc fair on saturday was pretty amusing, and lion king after that was plain awesome (: cat sent me a bunch of funny smses that involved souvenirs and plastic bags (HAHA) and i had fun walking around with celeste, dengqing and tree in the afternoon, where we did stuff like hanging around the edb booth (heh) and talking to that scarily psychic lta guy (okay at least psychic for me, since celeste had the "i don't want to tell you" look on her face right xD). then we made our way to taka and hung around kino for a bit before going mbs. took random photos on the way, including in the mrt station (in front of a very huge pair of lips) where a random person walked right into my camera even though there was a very big space in front of us =.=
the trip to mbs was uneventful, but finding a table was rather annoying, so we became vultures after a bit. (HAHA like the vultures in lion king. :P) and on a side note, omg the ice rink is completely fake. =.= then we went up, and i camwhored a bit in the toilet with dengqing (and we attracted many weird stares oops :P but nevermind it was quite funny anyhow xD)
lion king itself was pretty good, with a lot of great puns that amused celeste and me :D :D the effects were not bad, and the mbs stage is quite cool :D the starting was good, and the elephants came walking down the aisle omg we should've taken side seats haha. :O and there were funny bits (like 'nimba? sala? ooh...a merlion!', and the reinflatable plants, and the vultures :P) a pity the kids didn't sing too well (especially since 'i just can't wait to be king' is just about my favourite song in lion king) but i guess it's not bad considering their age. haha. they were quite cute anyway. and nala was rather less gentle than she seemed in the movie, but i suppose it would have been a bit hard to portray a gentle lioness onstage. if that makes sense.
and i saw les mis yesterday :D haha okay i think i still prefer phantom. but it wasn't bad, just that the story is rather sad. the songs are okay; some parts are very nice, but those nice bits were hidden behind a bigger song which isn't all that wonderful. still, les mis is quite a nice musical i suppose. (:
watched hercules last week too! haha omg i am going on some disney/musical marathon. (on a side note i would love to see aladdin as a musical sometime. hehe :D) the storyline is not bad. heh greek mythology xD 'go the distance' and 'i won't say (i'm in love)' are both nice songs<3 and incidentally the composer is the same guy who did aladdin and pocahontas and little mermaid and beauty and the beast. like all my favourite songs omg. haha. he has eight oscars and he deserves all of them omg. his songs are awesome :D yes, i am a huge alan menken fan haha. well actually, i have been ever since i was a kid. hehe. but his songs are really great and i love his orchestrations. and the best thing is he uses a lot of harp :D :D
